More About Nathan & Blythe

"The people you love become ghosts inside of you and like this you keep them alive.”
- Robert Montgomery

Nathan Hale and Blythe Pierce have known each other since elementary school, but it wasn't until eighth grade that the afternoons they were forced to spend together turned into more.
Like most first loves, it ends in heartache, but not because they hurt one another. Dark secrets come to light the night of their graduation, leaving Nathan with the only choice he has - to leave her.
Their love story transcends time and generations, bringing them back together eight years later upon Nathan's father's death when he inherits his medical practice in Shoals.

Will they ever get over the past?

Or will the ghost of what never got to be haunt them forever?

Blythe

Blythe Pierce was never like the other girls she went to school with at Sutton High. When your family is in the funeral business and your mother died tragically in high school, the small town of Shoals won't let her forget it. This made Blythe no stranger to gossip and keeping to herself, which would be easier said than done if she didn't run a cafe turned music venue in the heart of Main Street.

Blythe is creative and artistic just like her mother was, but also has an ear for discovering bands before their time. She's been so busy starting a business that she's barely had time to notice the eight years that passed since Nathan left her. But she's not that same girl anymore that lived for one look, one touch from him, and she's
built a lot of walls to protect herself since he's been gone.

Nathan may have awakened something in her that night, but Blythe Pierce has too much fight in her to let him off easy just because he's back. He better be prepared to offer up one hell of a reason for a second chance if he thinks the force that is Blythe Pierce will ever let him put her in a chokehold again.

Nathan

Nathan hasn't even had the chance to hang up his diploma from Duke, something his father pushed him toward since the moment he was born. He's been the model student, star athlete, and well-rounded prodigal son for as long as he's known. The only girl that ever distracted him was Blythe Pierce and she didn't fight fair.

Nathan has never been one for small talk, except for the witty sarcasm he's shared with Blythe since middle school. Despite being outwardly liked by just about everyone because of the privileged name he came from, Nathan is private and introspective. He analyzes everything around him in great detail - his favorite subject being all the expressions Blythe tries to hide.

Just as Nathan lands a coveted surgical internship, he must return to Shoals to bury his father, who he hasn't spoken to in eight years, just like the girl he left behind.

Even though Blythe Pierce hasn't been waiting around for him, Nathan can still read her like the music to her favorite song.
